Significantly improve the performance and capacity of your new or existing bridge deck or structure with Ductal’s overlay products. Ductal’s overlay line includes both thixotropic and self-compacting technologies that increase durability and speed of construction.
If you’re looking for a concrete bridge overlay that goes the extra mile, our solution provides you with the deterioration prevention properties of a standard overlay, with the added benefits of UHPC.
Thixotropic behavior is ideal for situations in which a slope (such as a bridge deck) requires an equal distribution of material. High flow, self compacting overlays are ideal for applications with minimal or no slope applications. Use this material to simultaneously increase structural capacity and durability while self-leveling slabs.
Traditional self-consolidating concrete (SCC) mixes will run down a sloped surface without top forming. Thixotropic material behaves such that when agitated (i.e. mixing, pouring or placing), the material will remain fluid. Once agitation is ceased, the material will stay in place on slopes up to 15 percent.
High flow, self-compacting overlays are ideal for applications with minimal or no slope applications. Use this material to simultaneously increase structural capacity and durability while self-leveling slabs.
Improve structural capacity and rigidity of existing decks
Prevent ingress of water and associated chlorides (salt spray or road salt)
Minimize dead load -Ductal UHPC requires a reduced cross section compared to traditional concrete or other materials
Rehabilitate existing structures with partial depth repairs rather than full depth replacement
Lower maintenance costs over structure life
Ductal design partners can assist in lifecycle analysis on new and existing structures.
Common Projects and Applications:
Bridges with grades up to 15 percent
Industrial slabs on ground
Floor reinforcement for slabs on ground and elevated structures
Repair and protection of existing structures
